President Ghani Meets Iran’s Dep. FM Araghchi
President M. Ashraf Ghani met with Iran’s deputy foreign minister Sayed Abbas Araghchi on Saturday at the presidential palace.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the importance of state-to-state relations, Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process as well as how to utilise Chabahar port well, the presidential palace said in a statement.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister Araghchi briefed president Ghani about the recent meeting of Iranian officials with Taliban delegation and reiterated his country’s commitment to Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
The meeting also emphasised to work with coordination in all dimensions for effective result.
This is the second visit of the Iranian deputy foreign minister to Kabul in three months. Last week, Iran’s national security adviser Ali Shamkhani visited Kabul too.
Iran is an influential player in the region. Some analysts say Tehran’s engagement in the peace process can have good results.
