Afghanistan Delegation Arrived in Pakistan to Discuss Security Problems

A high-level delegation comprising country’s national security adviser, interior minister, intelligence chief and the military chief arrived on Sunday in Islamabad to discuss security issues.

According to Afghanistan presidential palace, the delegation was invited by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit and discuss the security problems in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the region. Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) will also being discussed during the visit.
After landing in Islamabad, the Afghan delegation welcomed by Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Naseer Khan Janjua. delegation would also visit the General headquarters in Rawalpindi where the two sides would have in-depth talks on border security and Afghan peace process. The Express Tribune reported.
Hanif Atmar, the president’s national security adviser, is holding talks with Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on May 27.
Afghanistan and the United States have been increasing pressure on Pakistan to take action against militants operating in the country.
However, Islamabad denies harboring militant groups, including the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network, which carry out attacks in Afghanistan.
Afghan and Pakistani officials are also expected to discuss a series of deadly border clashes in recent months.
