The Ministry of Transport says that soon the Trilateral Meeting of the Coordinating Council will be held in order to discuss further conventions of the Chabahar Port.
The Ministry of Transport said, the additional protocols to the Chabahar Port Agreement were approved by the Afghan, Indian and Iranian parliaments, and soon a Coordinating Council with representatives from the three countries will be held to discuss and formulate it.
Fawzia Ehsani, the deputy to the minister of transport, said on Friday at the “Transit and Transport” exhibition in Kabul that Chabahar is a good transit route for Afghanistan.
“Soon, the Chabahar Co-ordination Council will be held at the level of the three countries. We hope to be able to make the best use of the Chabahar agreement as an alternative transit route until our transportation problems are resolved with Pakistan,” Ms. Ehsani added.
The Chabahar Port agreement was signed last year between the leaders of Afghanistan, Iran, and India, and the Afghan government described this port as an important transit and trade opportunity as well as a link among the three countries.
The first Indian wheat cargo arrived in Afghanistan last month through Chabahar port.
