Afghanistan’s Sadat Ethnic Group Called on Government to Insert their Identity in E-ID Cards

Afghanistan’s Sadat ethnic group called on the government to insert Sadat ethnicity in new Electronic Identity Cards (e-ID cards) by issuing a statement on Thursday.



Afghanistan’s Sadat ethnic group called on the government to insert Sadat ethnicity in new Electronic Identity Cards (e-ID cards) by issuing a statement on Thursday.

Sadat ethnic group during a press conference called on the government to insert the identity of Sadat ethnicity in E-ID cards (Tazkira), and to recognize this ethnicity with their own identity along with other ethnic groups in the country.

“Recently, the electronic ID card distribution department has stated several times that only the name of fourteen respected ethnic groups are recorded in distributing e-Tazkira; therefore, by relying on these clear facts, we declare our stance and demands in the following resolution,” said Sadat ethnic group in a statement, mentioning 3 clear articles.

The articles are as follow:
1. To mention the Islam religion which is the only factor that unites all individuals and stratum of the society, and brings out and unites the public in sensitive historical times which is an adopted principle.

2. We do not have any problem with the word “Afghan” which reflects the national identity, legal and political ties of each inhabitant of the territory with the government of Afghanistan and world.

3. To mention the name of “Sadat” in e-Tazkira and its database. According to the fourth article of the constitution, as the fifth largest ethnic group of the country which is the main demands of millions of Sadat population throughout the country, and mentioning it in new national e-Tazkira will not hurt any other ethnic groups.

“Imposing the identity of an ethnicity on other ethnic group is contrary with components of justice and principles of accepting social and political diversity. Afghanistan’s Sadat ethnic group will never deny their identity and tie themselves with another ethnicity,” part of the statement emphasized.

Sadat ethnic group warned if their demands not accepted, they will continue their civil protests at the national and world levels.
