Army Forces Release over 100 from Helmand Taliban Prison: local officials

Afghanistan Special Forces rescued 105 people, including five women from a prison run by the Taliban group in southern Helmand province on Wednesday night, the provincial officials said Thursday.


Afghanistan Special Forces rescued 105 people, including five women from a prison run by the Taliban group in southern Helmand province on Wednesday night, the provincial officials said Thursday.
The provincial media office in a statement said the at least five women were among those rescued during the operation in Kajaki district.
The statement further added that the hostages were released during an operation late on Wednesday night.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted by the Commando forces of 7th Battalion in Sor Kariz and Deh Baba villages of Kajaki district.
At least four Taliban insurgents were killed and one more wounded during the operation, the statement added.

Taliban insurgents have not yet commented regarding the operation.
