Taliban group called the major clerics conference held in Kabul on Monday as an “American-ordered process”.
Hundreds of clerics gathered at Loya Jirga in capital Kabul on Monday 4 May, and called the ongoing war of armed oppositions in Afghanistan illegitimate.
The clerics read the ongoing Afghan war as illegitimate issuing a rare Fatwa, and emphasized that the Afghan war has no religious justification.
“Suicide attack is Haram in Islam and is considered a major sin,” the clerics said, calling on the Taliban to give a positive response to the unconditional demand of the Afghan government for peace talks.
Meanwhile, Taliban in a statement vowed that holding Afghanistan clerics’ meeting is completely an “American and dramatic process”, claiming that such meetings are held by the order of America.
Referring to the comments by US and NATO commander General Nicholson that said military, political, social, and religious pressures will be escalated on the insurgents, the Taliban claimed that such meetings are planned by the United States.
Taliban claimed that the participants of the religious scholars’ meeting in Kabul were ordinary people. They asked the clerics to help with the group.
President Ashraf Ghani in a message welcomed the fatwa by Afghan clerics who considered suicide attacks illegitimate.
At the end of the meeting, a suicide attack took place near the Loya Jirga area, killing 14 people and wounded 17 others.
