According to DID news agency, the city of Mazar-e Sharif hosted a gathering of dozens of influential tribal and nomad figures from Samangan, Sar-e Pul, Faryab, Jawzjan and Balkh provinces.
“We have offered a plan to the government, according to which seven electoral zones should be given to nomads,” said Mohammad Hariq, the chairman of northern nomad general council at the gathering. “if our demands do not meet, we will boycott the upcoming parliamentary election.”

The IEC has allocated ten seats for nomads in Wolesi Jirga that has one electoral zone across the country. They say nomads should have seven electoral zones across the country.

This comes as according to nomads’ heads, nearly 90 percent of nomad women do not have ID cards (Tazkira).
