Ghani Praises Security Forces as Farah city on edge of Collapse

President Ghani praised a number of special operation corps officials and colleagues of Resolute Support mission during a ceremony held in the presidential palace On Monday.

Mr Ghani said that the confidence that people today have on security forces has been unprecedented in the past 100 years.
This comes as several security checkpoints were overrun by Taliban fighters on Tuesday and heavy fighting ongoing in western Farah province, according to Fared Bakhtawer, head of the Farah provincial council.
Taliban insurgents have attacked Farah city, the capital of Farah Province in western Afghanistan, killing and wounding dozens of security forces.
Bakhtawer said as many as 30 members of the Afghanistan security forces were killed or wounded in the fighting so far.
At the ceremony, president Ghani said it is an honor for him and nation of Afghanistan that the security forces move with strength.

He expressed his satisfaction with the timely activities of the forces and that they are working on precautionary measures to prevent casualties during their operations, saying that the security and defense forces’ efforts key for a safe and prosperous future.
Meanwhile, country’s Ministry of defense said in a statement that all forces are doing everything possible to bring the situation in Farah under control.
