These days, the debate on the new round of presidential elections has been hot in Afghanistan. Sayed Alireza Mahmoodi, who is a leading member of the Grand National Coalition (GNC) and also an electoral ticket, says the events of 2014 presidential election should not be repeated again.
“presidential election is a major national process and the people should vote to tickets that are committed to national interests,” said Mr Mahmoodi in an interview with a media outlet. “at this time, the GNC has not been discussed on who will be the candidate from the coalition’s address in the presidential election, and all the talks are about the formation of an inclusive Afghan faction,” he added.

According to Mr. Mahmoodi, the GNC is working on a mechanism and conditions that an electoral ticket should have as well as on commitments that have a practical implementation.
On the other hand, president Ghani said during a trip to Helmand province that mistakes of the parliamentary elections will not be repeated in the presidential election.

Afghan IEC has recently announced that the presidential election chart has been drafted and will be shared with political movements.
Yet, election tickets are partly specified, and one of them is the Grand National Coalition.
