Hekmatyar’s Words Surprising and Regrettable: Iran Embassy
The embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran rejected Hekmatyar’s words regarding the transfer of ISIL into Afghanistan through Iran, saying it is “surprising and regrettable.”
The Iranian embassy in Kabul denied the new Hekmatyar’s position, accusing Iran of transferring ISIL from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan, and called it “surprising and regrettable.”
On Thursday, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar claimed at a press conference in Kabul that Daesh (ISIL) fighters are transferred to Afghanistan through Iran and in cooperation with that government. He also claimed Iran wants to carry out military maneuvers under the pretext of ISIL in Afghanistan.
It is noteworthy Hekmatyar is famous for taking undefined positions. His request letter to the Iranian leader was raised in media outlets, in which he had some demands from Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei.
