“Holding Afghan presidential election is an important step towards strengthening democracy in the system of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, fulfilling the principles set forth in its constitution and adhere to Afghanistan’s 18-year achievements, which many lives have been sacrificed in this path and has costed a lot for the patient and firm people of this country,” said a statement released Friday by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The embassy hopes that the election will be held with the broad participation of the Afghan community in full peace and security to further strengthen the stability, consensus, and solidarity of the Afghan people,” the statement stressed.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly insisted on supporting the will of the Afghan people and its national government, and in the peace process, its policy has always been supporting the Afghan system.
