John Bass Discusses Election, Ceasefire, Terrorism with Second VP

One of the serious concerns of the US ambassador during his meeting with Mohammad Mohaqiq, was the poor presence of people at the election.
At the meeting, the second VP expressed gratitude to the International Community, especially the government and the American people for cooperating the Afghan nation and government, and emphasized on joint cooperation to fight the terrorism and insure stability in Afghanistan.
Mr Danish considered political stability, peace, strengthening people-centered establishment, and consolidation of Afghanistan’s strategic relations with its international partners as the political priorities.
In addition, the second VP said that the government, parties, political movements, and all citizens of the country are responsible to fight against any probable obstacle on the way of election.
Mr Danish further said the demands for changing the electoral system recently raised by political movements need attention, but stressed that fulfilling these demands require more time.
On the other hand, the US ambassador to Afghanistan John R Bass said his country will support the Afghan election and other partners of Afghanistan will also help the country to hold the upcoming election.
He accentuated that the support of people, parties, political movements is necessary to hold the parliamentary and districts elections, saying the lack of attention to this process will be a challenge for the future of Afghanistan.
