Scores of Junbish-e Milli party in Mazar-e Sharif rallied Wednesday, calling for the release of Nizamuddin Qaisari and the return of General Dostum, while people in northern Faryab province protested in reaction to the detention of Qaisari by the security forces.
“The reason behind Qaisari’s detention is not clear. Is the crime of Nizamuddin Qaisari providing the security of Faryab province and the fight against Taliban?” Gul M. Erkin, the deputy and a member of Junbish-e Milli party told the media.
“People’s gatherings and demonstrations in Sar-e-Pul, Jawzjan, Faryab, and Balkh provinces have been formed to release Mr. Qaisari and the return of first VP general Dostum,” he added.
On the other hand, Sayed Shamsuddin Sadat, the chairman of the Junbish party’s Provincial Council in Balkh, read a five-point resolution as a representative of the participants.
The resolution set out five specific requests from the president and the government which are as follows:
1- We urge the authorities of NUG to honorably release Nizamuddin Qaisari, the special representative of first VP General Abdul Rashid Dostum and the security commander of Qaisar district as soon as possible.
2- Arresting Nizamuddin Qaisari is against the law, and will damage the peace and stability of NUG.
3- We declare our support from the people of Faryab province, calling on the authorities of local authorities to seriously prosecute those who killed the residents of Faryab province and the bodyguards of Nizamuddin Qaisari.
4- The participants of the gathering urge the central government to pave the ground for the first VP General Abdul Rashid Dostum – who is the founder and leader of Junbish-e Milli party – to return to the country.
5- If the participants’ requests are not put into practice, we will continue our civil movements, and if necessary, ready to carry out civil disobedience.
It is worth mentioning that people protested in Sar-e Pul province in regard to the detention of Qaisari as well.
