Karzai, Rabbani, Hekmatyar Refused Membership of HCNR

Ex-president Hamid Karzai, Salahuddin Rabbani and the leader of Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar refused to join the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR).

Former president Hamid Karzai said in a statement said that he will not be part of any government formation but welcomes peace efforts.
“As a citizen, he will continue his efforts for bringing peace to the country,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the leader of Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and Salahuddin Rabbani also refused the membership of HCNR.
On Saturday, the presidential palace published a decree issued by President Ashraf Ghani regarding the appointment of the members of HCNR with a list of political leaders and high-ranking members of the government.
