Following controversies and brawls over the parliament’s speaker, Mir Rahman Rahmani, an MP from Parwan, succeeded to be elected as the speaker of the parliament.
Mr Rahmani received 136 votes while Khan M. Wardak received 96 votes during an election process held on Saturday.
In the previous election process, Mr Rahmani won 124 votes against 55 votes of Kamal Naser Osuli, but his opponents considered one ballot paper as controversial, preventing him from taking the speaker’s seat.
