National Resistance Council Welcomes UN Resolution and Appointment of special Envoy on Afghanistan
DID Press: While thanking the United Nations for issuing Resolution 2721 regarding Afghanistan, the National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan welcomed the appointment of a special representative who will be familiar with the situation and crises in Afghanistan.
In a statement published late Sunday, the National Resistance Council welcomed the issuance of the UN Security Council resolution on Afghanistan.
The recent UNSC resolution has put Afghanistan in the focus of the international community’s attention, said the statement.
The Council has also expressed its statnce regarding the UNSC resolution and appointment of a special representative for Afghanistan in six paragraphs.
The Resistance Council praised the establishment of a timetable for the implementation of the resolution and hoped its consequences will also focus on the formation of a comprehensive legal system based on the will of the people and the provision of a just peace.
The statement considered the appointment of a UN special representative for Afghanistan as a key step and urged the UN to be careful in appointing a special representative.
The statement welcomed the inclusion of human rights in UNSC’s resolution as part of a roadmap for changing the situation in Afghanistan.
