Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in a video message to Herat residents said that the government has allocated 400 million AFN to fight the coronavirus in the province.
President Ghani added that he has instructed the authorities to take immediate measures to curb the virus outbreak, such as managing returnees, mobilizing aids, creating emergency facilities and preventing recession, taking immediate and significant actions.
He also called on the private sector and the Herati people to work on a clear plan to keep Herat’s economy active and prosper.
A council will be formed with the membership of Herat representatives, the senate, Herat provincial council, the private sector and civil society on how to manage the consumption and monitoring financial allocation.
According to the ministry of public health, 22 positive coronavirus cases have been registered in Afghanistan, mostly in Herat province.
