President Ghani Meets with New NATO SCR
President M. Ashraf Ghani on Thursday morning met with the new NATO Senior Civilian Representative (SCR) Nicholas Kay at the presidential palace (Arg).
President M. Ashraf Ghani on Thursday morning met with the new NATO Senior Civilian Representative (SCR) Nicholas Kay at the presidential palace (Arg).
During the meeting, both sides discussed the peace process, counter-terrorism, peace consultative Loya Jirga and third Kabul process.
“Concerning the fight against terrorism, a regional consensus has to be created and the links among terrorist groups, particularly the communications of states with them, should be clarified so as to bring about a lasting peace in the region,” president Ghani said. Adding that “Peace is the top priority of the Afghan government, the Loya Jirga will be held for consultations and the third conference Kabul process will focus on peace as well”.
NATO SCR Nicholas Kay said that “NATO organization supports all Afghan government programs, especially the establishment of lasting peace, and will be ready to cooperate in holding the Loya Jirga and the third conference of Kabul Process”.
