Sibghatullah Mujaddedi Passes away at 93

Sibghatullah Mujaddedi, the first head of Afghan interim government and the leader of National Liberation party died on Monday 11 Feb. at 93 in Kabul.


Sibghatullah Mujaddedi, the first head of Afghan interim government and the leader of National Liberation party died on Monday 11 Feb. at 93 in Kabul.

Mujaddedi’s family and the national liberation party confirmed it in a statement and said that his body will be buried on Wednesday 13 Feb. at the Asheqan and Arefan graveyard.
He was born on 21 April 1925 in Kabul.

Following the Saur Revolution in 1978, he went to Pakistan and began political and armed struggles against Kabul administration.

During exile in Peshawar, he founded the Jebh-e-Nejat-e Melli, the National Liberation Front. In 1988, he was elected as the head of Afghan Interim Government, based in Peshawar.
He has worked as the chairman of Afghanistan’s Upper House as well.
