UN Hopes Ramadan will provide Opportunity for Peace in Afghanistan

On the occasion of Ramadan, the UN secretary general’s special representative for Afghanistan Deborah Lyons hoped that Ramadan will provide an opportunity for all Afghan people to find peace.
UNAMA said in a statement on Monday that the UN remains committed to the Afghan people in their quest for a peaceful, united and prosperous country.
“At this special time of prayer and reflection, as well as compassion for the vulnerable, I hope that Ramadan will provide an opportunity for all Afghans to find peace,” said the head of UNAMA Deborah Lyons, adding that UNAMA supports the Afghan people and government to achieve peace and stability.
Today, April 13, is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
