Votes of 11 Provinces Counted, only 39% of Primary Election Result Prepared

Afghan IEC said Monday that the votes of 11 provinces were counted and 39 percent of primary election result has been prepared so far.

Afghan IEC said Monday that the votes of 11 provinces were counted and 39 percent of primary election result has been prepared so far.
“the votes of more than 200 polling stations in Kabul have been audited and recounted,” said the chairman of IEC Abdul Bade Sayyad in a press conference in Kabul.
“the count of votes has been completed in more than six provinces and over ten other provinces are being completed,” he added.
“although the decision to use the biometric devices was taken late, we were able to use these devices well,”

This comes as a number of observers had said that the use of these devices did not prevent fraud and misconduct in the parliamentary elections, and employees and even the officials of the electoral commissions deliberately and consciously, with the “complementary” affirmation of the role of these voting machines, tried to prevent the “effective” usage of these devices.
Mr. Sayyad, however, emphasizes that in the presidential elections, the IEC will have enough time to train its staff in using biometric devices.
“the recount process of hundreds of votes in Kabul province continues with new employees,” Sayyad said.

According to him, a number of provincial electoral offices are closed in Baghlan and Paktia provinces, which this process must be terminated.
The chairman of the IEC also urged the institutions, parties and political figures to avoid what he called “unfounded allegations to the Independent Election Commission”.

This is despite the fact that in the public opinions, the IEC has been accused of organized frauds and inability to hold this national process by leaders and political figures.
