Iran Allocates 10 Million Euros for Abu Nasr Farahi Road Construction

DIDpress: Mulla Mohammad Isa Sani, the acting Minister of Public Works, expressed gratitude for Iran’s consistent and enduring cooperation.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, the spokesperson for the acting government’s Ministry of Public Works, announced in a statement on Tuesday, April 29, that Mulla Mohammad Isa Sani, the acting Minister of Public Works, met with Ali Reza Bikdeli, Iran’s ambassador, at his office. The two sides discussed the completion of the remaining sections of the Mile 78 Abu Nasr Farahi road, the construction of the second Milak bridge, increasing transportation through the Khaf-Herat railway route, and several other important issues.

According to Haqshenas, Ali Reza Bikdeli stated, “Following our previous meeting, we visited the remaining sections of the Mile 78 Abu Nasr Farahi road and the Khaf-Herat route. As a result of this visit and within the framework of a recent trip to Iran, an amount of 10 million euros was allocated to complete the Mile 78 Abu Nasr Farahi road.”

Bikdeli added that the construction of this road will be completed by the end of the current year.

Mulla Mohammad Isa Sani, the acting Minister of Public Works, welcomed the Iranian ambassador and expressed appreciation for Iran’s ongoing and sustained cooperation, noting, “Completing the remaining sections of the Mile 78 Abu Nasr Farahi road is one of the key priorities of the Islamic Emirate’s economic program.”

Sani emphasized that the Ministry of Public Works is working to finalize the reconstruction of this route as soon as possible to alleviate the challenges faced by the people and traders of both countries.

The two sides also held comprehensive discussions on addressing existing challenges along the Khaf-Herat railway route, increasing commercial goods transportation through this route fivefold, constructing the second Milak bridge, establishing a new route between the two countries to reduce traffic congestion at the Dogharoun crossing, signing bilateral and trilateral memoranda of understanding, the interest of Iranian companies in Afghanistan’s infrastructure projects—particularly in the railway sector—and Iran’s initiative to launch capacity-building programs for Afghan railway sector employees.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the expansion of cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran in economic, commercial, and infrastructure projects, as well as the continuation of meetings to implement the aforementioned matters.
