DIDPress: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) warned the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip is nearing total collapse, and that without immediate action, a broader humanitarian catastrophe is imminent.

In an official statement released on Monday, the ICRC emphasized the severity of the situation and called for urgent measures to preserve the remaining medical facilities and strengthen their capacity.
“Without safe access to healthcare services, countless lives are at serious risk. What remains of the medical infrastructure must be protected and supported,” reads the statement.
According to the organization, a significant number of the wounded in recent incidents were injured while attempting to reach humanitarian aid distribution points—further straining the already overstretched medical facilities.
The Red Cross also stressed that the continuation of the current situation not only constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law, but also greatly increases the risk of an even larger-scale human disaster.
