105-MW Tarakhil Thermal Power Plant Reactivated
DIDPress: Following an unprecedented rise in temperatures and increased electricity demand in Kabul, the power utility company Breshna announced the reactivation of the Tarakhil Thermal Power Plant.

Breshna reported that the Tarakhil plant, with a production capacity of 105 megawatts, has been reconnected to the grid.
This decision comes amid record-high temperatures and a surge in electricity consumption across Kabul.
Officials from Breshna stated that reactivating the plant aims to prevent prolonged blackouts and partially meet citizens’ electricity needs during the hot summer months.
Although thermal power generation involves high operational costs and significant fuel consumption, Breshna emphasized that the move was necessary to address Kabul’s urgent energy demands.
