Afghanistan Begins Fresh Polio Vaccination Campaign in 4 Provinces

DID Press: Polio Free Afghanistan organization announced the launch of a new round of polio vaccination campaigns across Kandahar, Helmand, Farah, and Herat provinces. The campaign began on Monday, September 29, in urban centers and several districts of these provinces.

In a statement, Polio-Free Afghanistan said that the new vaccination round covers Kandahar, Helmand, Farah, and Herat provinces.

In Kandahar, the campaign is being implemented in the city and districts of Arghandab, Daman, Panjwayi, Spin Boldak, and Zhari. In Helmand, it includes Lashkargah, Nad Ali, Nahr-e-Saraj, Nawa Barakzai, and Washir districts. In Farah, the campaign covers the provincial capital, while in Herat, it extends to the city and Injil district.

The organization added that a similar campaign began earlier, on Saturday, September 27, in 17 districts of Nangarhar and 4 districts of Nuristan.

According to the statement, children aged 4 to 59 months will receive both types of polio vaccines—the oral polio vaccine (OPV) and the inactivated injectable polio vaccine (FIPV)—as part of this program.
