DID Press: United States Senate voted down a Democratic resolution aimed at preventing military action against Iran without formal congressional authorization.

The measure failed by a vote of 52 against to 47 in favor, reflecting continued divisions in United States Congress over presidential war powers and military engagement.
Only Rand Paul, a Republican, supported the proposal, signaling limited dissent within his party regarding the administration’s war policy. Meanwhile, Jim Justice did not participate in the vote.
On the Democratic side, John Fetterman was the sole member to vote against the resolution.
The proposal sought to restrict the executive branch’s authority to conduct military operations without explicit approval from Congress, in line with constitutional war powers provisions.
This marks the fourth attempt by Democratic lawmakers to pass such a resolution since the escalation of hostilities, with each effort failing due to Republican opposition. Party leaders have indicated they will continue introducing similar measures until the conflict ends or Congress formally authorizes military action.
