Taliban Delegation Heads to Samarkand for Intl Drug Trafficking Conference

DID Press: A Taliban delegation led by Abdul Rahman Munir, Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics at the Ministry of Interior, has departed for Uzbekistan to attend an international conference on drugs and global threats in the city of Samarkand.

The Ministry of Interior of the Taliban administration said on Saturday that the official delegation will participate in the “Drugs and International Threats” conference scheduled for April 20, with representatives from various countries, international organizations, and specialized agencies expected to attend.

According to the statement, the conference will focus on emerging trends in drug trafficking, cross-border security threats, and strengthening joint cooperation mechanisms.

The Taliban delegation is expected to present updates on its activities, achievements, and future plans in combating narcotics. Discussions will also include expanding regional cooperation, information sharing, and coordination to counter trafficking networks.

Taliban officials stated that participation in the conference is part of ongoing efforts to enhance international engagement and demonstrate progress in addressing the cultivation, production, and trafficking of narcotics in Afghanistan.
