Nangarhar Expects Over 11,000 Tons of Peach Harvest This Year

DID Press: Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province is projected to produce more than 11,000 metric tons of peaches this agricultural year, according to local agricultural authorities.

The provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Nangarhar said peach production is expected to reach approximately 11,320 metric tons in 2026.

Officials reported that peach orchards have been cultivated across about 2,021.5 jeribs of land in 22 districts of the province during the current year.

They added that favorable orchard conditions and relatively stable climate patterns have contributed to the strong production outlook, reinforcing Nangarhar’s position as one of Afghanistan’s key fruit-producing regions.

According to official data, last year the province harvested around 11,223 metric tons of peaches from nearly 1,991.5 jeribs of land, indicating a stable production trend.

Local farmers, however, have called for improved agricultural support, including better access to fertilizers, pesticides, and technical assistance, to further enhance both yield and product quality in the coming years.
