Taliban Opens Large Housing Township for Returnees in Nangarhar

DID Press: Taliban’s Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has inaugurated a residential township spanning nearly 18,000 jeribs of land for returning migrants in Nangarhar, as part of efforts to address resettlement needs.

The township, located in the Rodat district and named after Hibatullah Akhundzada, is currently undergoing plot distribution to eligible returnee families, officials said.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Urban Development Minister Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, Nangarhar Governor Mohammad Naeem Akhund, members of the permanent resettlement committee, and a number of returning migrant families.

Haqqani stated that land distribution will continue under a structured mechanism, while also calling on neighboring countries to treat Afghan migrants in accordance with humanitarian and Islamic principles.

Local authorities emphasized that permanent resettlement remains a critical need, adding that efforts are ongoing to provide essential services and living facilities within the township.
