Taliban Officials and WFP Focus Talks on Aid for Vulnerable Families

DID Press: Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy prime minister of the Taliban, met with a senior delegation from the World Food Programme to discuss humanitarian assistance, economic support, and aid for families affected by natural disasters across Afghanistan.

During the meeting, Hanafi emphasized the need to expand support programs for disaster-affected communities and called for targeted distribution of humanitarian aid. He also stressed the importance of creating employment opportunities for returning migrants and utilizing Afghanistan’s domestic professional workforce in international development projects.

WFP pledges continued humanitarian support

Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director of WFP, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continuing humanitarian operations in Afghanistan. He stated that assistance for vulnerable households, children suffering from malnutrition, and livelihood support programs remain among the agency’s top priorities.

The meeting comes as humanitarian needs across Afghanistan remain severe, with international organizations continuing to warn about economic hardship, food insecurity, and the growing impact of natural disasters on vulnerable communities.
