DID Press: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told a BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi that Iran has withstood repeated attacks by the United States and Israel and will not retreat from its sovereignty, while framing BRICS as a pillar of an emerging global order aimed at ending Western dominance.

Araghchi said Iran had been targeted twice within a year in what he described as unlawful and baseless military actions, arguing that such operations contradict both technical assessments by international nuclear authorities and intelligence evaluations within the United States.
He warned that continued regional instability represents a “lose-lose” scenario that would ultimately backfire on those responsible, while praising Iran’s internal cohesion and the role of its military and civil institutions in maintaining national resilience under pressure.
Reaffirming Tehran’s position, the Iranian foreign minister said the country remains prepared to respond decisively to any aggression but continues to pursue a peaceful approach grounded in respect and diplomatic engagement, stressing that military solutions are not viable for disputes involving Iran.
Turning to global politics, Araghchi described BRICS as a symbol of a new international order led by the Global South, arguing that emerging powers are reshaping global governance structures away from Western dominance.
He criticized what he called declining Western powers for attempting to reverse global shifts, using stark language to describe current geopolitical tensions and accusing Western states of enabling violations of international law through political protection and silence.
Araghchi concluded by calling on BRICS members to strengthen cooperation, resist the politicization of international institutions, and take practical steps toward ending conflict and reinforcing a more balanced global system.
