CENTCOM: Afghanistan Security Situation Under Continuous Monitoring
DID Press: US Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that the United States continues to closely monitor the security situation in Afghanistan and the activities of terrorist groups operating in the country.

General Brad Cooper told a hearing of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee that Afghanistan remains a key focus area for American counterterrorism efforts. He said intelligence agencies are continuously tracking militant activity and evolving security risks.
Responding to concerns raised by Senator Jim Banks over a potential resurgence of ISIS and other extremist groups, Cooper described Afghanistan as a “critical monitoring zone” for U.S. national security interests.
He claimed that the United States, in coordination with regional partners, has worked to contain threats posed by militant organizations through intelligence sharing and security cooperation mechanisms.
Cooper further warned that the security environment in Afghanistan remains fragile, noting the possibility of renewed activity by extremist networks. He added that U.S. agencies maintain ongoing assessments to prevent the country from becoming a safe haven for terrorist organizations.
