DID Press: Khawaja Asif says renewed war with Iran is unlikely, arguing that regional powers and U.S. public opinion oppose another military conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking to a local television network, Asif said Israel would not be able to sustain a confrontation with Iran without direct backing from the United States.
“My assessment is that war will not return,” he said, adding that the American public is unwilling to fight on Israel’s behalf.
The Pakistani defense minister also stated that key regional and global actors — including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China, and Russia — oppose renewed conflict involving Iran, saying the current geopolitical climate does not favor another escalation.
In another part of his remarks, Asif warned India against what he described as “adventurism,” following recent comments by India’s army chief.
He claimed the Indian military had lost prestige after last year’s clashes and said New Delhi’s leadership was attempting to restore its image through aggressive rhetoric.
Asif further argued that India’s regional influence among neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka has declined, while Pakistan’s international standing has improved.
He also described the strategic alignment between India and Israel as “clear,” claiming Israel does not want any regional power to surpass India’s position.
Referring to a recent meeting with Mullah Yaqoob, Asif said he urged the Taliban not to provide shelter or weapons to hostile groups.
