DID Press: China and Pakistan have announced a new broad consensus to deepen their “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership,” following the official visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Beijing.

According to a joint statement, the two sides agreed to advance the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into a new phase termed “CPEC 2.0,” focusing on high-quality development, expansion of special economic zones, agricultural modernization, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence technologies. The statement also welcomed participation from third countries in CPEC projects.

On security cooperation, Pakistan pledged to strengthen protective measures for Chinese citizens, workers, and infrastructure projects, aiming to provide a safer environment for Chinese companies operating in the country.

In return, China reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and enhanced intelligence and security cooperation.

Both countries also agreed to expand military cooperation, joint training programs, and strategic defense ties to promote regional stability.

On international issues, Beijing and Islamabad called for an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and reiterated support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.

The meeting coincided with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
