Pakistan, China Coordinate Efforts Against Regional Security Threats

DID Press: Muhammad Sadiq and Yue Xiaoyong have held talks in Islamabad focused on regional security challenges and counterterrorism cooperation.

According to Muhammad Sadiq, the meeting was “constructive and productive,” with both sides exchanging views on security developments affecting the region.

The discussions reportedly centered on threats posed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), groups that Pakistan and China claim operate from Afghan territory.

Sadiq said the two countries emphasized the need for closer coordination and greater alignment of counterterrorism efforts. They also agreed to expand security cooperation to address what they described as shared threats.

The meeting further highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in maintaining peace, stability, and security, with both sides committing to continued consultations on developments in Afghanistan and cross-border security challenges.

The talks come amid ongoing concerns in Islamabad and Beijing over militant activity in the region, an issue that remains a key element of relations among Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan.
