In the match held in the city of Malé, Afghanistan defeated Maldives 1–0. The only goal of the game was scored in the 80th minute by Roman Fazi, securing three crucial points for the Afghan side.
The tournament features Afghanistan, Maldives, Pakistan, and Bangladesh and is being held from (June 1 to 10) in Maldives. It marks the 75th anniversary of Maldivian football and serves as a preparatory competition for upcoming official regional events.
In the other opening match, Pakistan and Bangladesh played out a goalless draw, each earning one point. With these results, Afghanistan leads the group with three points.
