Russia Calls for Realistic and Comprehensive Approach Toward Afghanistan

DID Press: Anna Evstigneeva has called for a realistic and comprehensive international approach toward Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for policies based on objective assessments and balanced analysis of the country’s current situation.

Speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Afghanistan, Evstigneeva said Russia consistently supports an approach grounded in impartial evaluation and a realistic understanding of developments in the country.

According to the Russian diplomat, such an approach is an essential necessity and remains the only viable path for addressing Afghanistan’s challenges.

She stressed that constructive international cooperation, attention to the needs of the Afghan people, and confidence-based dialogue with the authorities in Kabul should form the core elements of this strategy.

Evstigneeva also urged the United Nations to expand its engagement and communication with the Taliban-led administration.

She argued that direct dialogue with Afghanistan’s current authorities is the most effective way to address existing problems and facilitate the country’s gradual reintegration into the international community.

Russia’s position comes amid ongoing international debate over how the global community should engage with Afghanistan’s de facto authorities, a subject that continues to dominate discussions at major diplomatic forums.
