Haaretz: Israel Back to Square One After Two Years of War

DID Press: Haaretz said in a commentary critical of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel has returned to conditions similar to those at the beginning of the conflict after two years of costly regional warfare, without achieving its broader strategic objectives.

According to the report, the newspaper argued that US patience with Israel’s continued military-centered approach is becoming increasingly limited.

Haaretz said Israeli policy continues to emphasize what it described as a strategy of “peace through strength” toward Lebanon and Iran, but argued that the political leadership has overlooked a broader reality: that years of conflict and significant financial and military expenditure have not produced clear strategic gains.

The commentary suggested that despite extensive regional operations and major costs, Israel now faces many of the same security and political challenges that existed before the escalation began.

The report reflects ongoing debate inside Israel over the effectiveness, sustainability, and long-term consequences of current government policy amid regional tensions and evolving international pressure.
