Afghanistan Freedom Front Claims Attack on Taliban Morality Officials in Herat

DID Press: Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for an attack targeting members of the Taliban’s morality enforcement department in Herat, saying the operation was carried out on Friday evening.

In a statement posted on X, the group said its fighters targeted a gathering of officials from the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice near the entrance of the department’s office in Herat at around 10 p.m. local time.

According to the claim, three members of the department were killed and two others were wounded. The figures have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation from Taliban authorities.

The group released a video that it said showed the operation and stated that the attack was carried out in response to what it described as the harassment of women and the suppression of public protests in Herat.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has previously declared members and facilities of the Taliban’s morality enforcement apparatus to be legitimate targets within its campaign against the Taliban administration.

The group also urged local residents to avoid military vehicles and locations where Taliban personnel gather, saying such areas could be at risk of future attacks.
