National Museum Receives Rare Sword from Afghanistan’s Historic Wars

DID Press: A historic sword believed to have been used during Afghanistan’s anti-British wars more than a century ago has been donated to the National Museum of Afghanistan by a resident of Paktia Province.

According to local officials, Habib Rahman Nouri handed over the sword, which he said belonged to his grandfather and was used in battles fought by Afghans against British forces.

The handover took place in the presence of officials from the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, including representatives of the culture and arts sector.

Taliban authorities praised the donation, describing it as an important contribution to preserving Afghanistan’s historical heritage. They emphasized that the artifact would be carefully protected and maintained as part of the country’s national collection.

The sword is believed to be more than 100 years old and is regarded as a symbol of Afghanistan’s historical resistance during the Anglo-Afghan conflicts.
