Kazakhstan, Afghanistan Sign $235M in Trade Agreements

DID Press: Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade has announced the signing of trade agreements and memorandums worth approximately $235 million between Kazakh and Afghan companies during the Kazakhstan–Afghanistan Business Forum in Kabul.

The agreements were finalized during a Kazakh trade and economic mission to Afghanistan held on June 21–22, 2026. More than 50 Kazakh companies and over 300 representatives from Afghanistan’s business community participated in business-to-business (B2B) meetings aimed at expanding commercial cooperation.

Alongside the forum, a specialized exhibition showcasing Kazakh products and services was organized to introduce Kazakhstan’s industrial and agricultural goods to the Afghan market. Companies from the agriculture, food processing, textile, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors took part in the event.

One of the key outcomes was the signing of a 10-year memorandum between Afghanistan’s Nisar Elias Trading Ltd. and Kazakhstan’s Turkistan Oil Factory Ltd. for the export of sunflower oil.

In addition, Kazakhstan’s Shabit Ltd. signed a $15 million agreement to supply grain products under the “Speranza” brand.

The Union of Grain Processors of Kazakhstan and the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment also agreed to expand exports of wheat flour and processed grain products.

Another agreement was signed between Kazakhstan’s Samsar Holding, registered at the Astana International Financial Centre, and Afghanistan’s Amu Tracks Trading and Logistics.

The two sides additionally reached a preliminary understanding on a joint coal-fired power plant project incorporating coke production and electricity generation, with an estimated value of $20 million to $30 million. Feasibility studies and technical surveys are currently underway.

Officials said growing demand for Kazakh products in Afghanistan is creating new opportunities for trade expansion and future joint investment projects between the two countries.
