Internal Taliban Rifts Deepen in Badakhshan as Dissident Commanders Mobilize
DID Press: Reports from Badakhshan Province indicate growing internal divisions within the Taliban, as a senior commander, Mahbubullah Hamid, has reportedly returned to his home province and begun mobilizing affiliated forces after leaving his assignment in Ghor Province.

Local sources say Hamid, who previously served as deputy governor under Taliban administration in Ghor, left his post around a month ago and has since been active in organizing loyal fighters in Badakhshan.
The developments come amid unresolved tensions between the Taliban leadership and Jumah Khan Fateh, a prominent local figure in the province. According to sources, a Taliban delegation sent to manage the dispute has failed to ease the situation, prompting a visit by Taliban Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid to assess the tensions on the ground.
Badakhshan, a strategically significant province in northeastern Afghanistan, has long been considered an important power center within the Taliban structure. Analysts warn that increasing dissatisfaction among local commanders could deepen internal fractures and affect both security and political stability in the region.
