Andisha Discusses Afghanistan Rights Crisis with UN Human Rights Deputy Chief

DID Press: Afghanistan’s representative to UN has held what he described as a constructive meeting with the newly appointed deputy head of the UN human rights office, focusing on the country’s deteriorating human rights situation.

Naseer Andisha announced the meeting with Awa Dabo, deputy newly appointed to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The two sides discussed the worsening human rights conditions in Afghanistan and stressed the importance of the work carried out by the UN Special Rapporteur, as well as the implementation of the newly established Independent Investigative Mechanism for Afghanistan (IIM-A).

Andisha described Dabo’s experience in peacebuilding and development, combined with the institutional expertise of the UN human rights office, as highly valuable for leadership at a critical time.

He added that addressing Afghanistan’s current challenges requires strong global commitment and cooperation, expressing hope for continued coordination aimed at ensuring justice and protecting fundamental rights of the Afghan people.
