Taliban Warn Doctors Against Prescribing Pakistani Medicines
DID Press: Taliban authorities in Kabul have warned medical professionals against prescribing medicines imported from Pakistan, claiming they are harmful to public health.

Mohammad Taher Ahrar, a health commander within the Taliban-run Ministry of Defense, made the remarks during a seminar in Kabul, stating that Pakistani pharmaceutical imports have been banned due to what he described as “low quality.”
He urged doctors and healthcare workers to avoid prescribing Pakistani medicines, arguing that their use could endanger patients’ health. Ahrar further claimed that prescribing such drugs amounts to “betraying the people of Afghanistan.”
He also called on relevant institutions to strengthen oversight of the pharmaceutical market and prevent the import and distribution of substandard medicines.
So far, Pakistani authorities have not issued any response to these statements.
