Mullah Baradar to Lead Taliban Delegation to Funeral of Iran’s “Martyr Leader”

DID Press: Media outlets affiliated with the Taliban administration report that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar will lead a high-level Taliban delegation to Tehran to attend the funeral and burial ceremony of Iran’s “Martyr Leader.”

According to the reports, the visit follows an official invitation from the Iranian government and forms part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and the Taliban administration.

The reports state that Iran previously extended formal invitations to senior Taliban officials. Alireza Bikdeli reportedly delivered the invitation to Mawlawi Abdul Wasi.

Radio Hurriyat, citing its sources, said preparations for Baradar’s trip are in their final stages and that the composition of the delegation will be announced soon. Diplomatic coordination with the Iranian Embassy in Kabul is also continuing.

Iranian media have reported that the funeral and burial ceremonies are scheduled to begin next Saturday.

The planned visit by a senior Taliban delegation is widely viewed as another indication of continued political and diplomatic engagement between Kabul and Tehran.
