In the opening match, Egypt defeated Australia 4–2 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regular and extra time, marking a historic first-ever knockout-stage victory for the African side.
Argentina overcame Cape Verde 3–2 in a tightly contested and high-scoring encounter, securing their place in the next round despite strong resistance from their opponents.
In the final match, Colombia edged Ghana 1–0 with a decisive goal to claim the last available ticket to the Round of 16.
