Arab-Israeli Death Toll Reaches 150 Amid Rising Violence

DID Press: Israeli health officials at Rambam Hospital have confirmed that the death of a 17-year-old following a shooting in Haifa has raised the number of killings within Israel’s Arab community to 150 since the beginning of 2026.

The victims in the latest incident were identified as 17-year-old Wisam Faisal and 18-year-old Yonatan Khoury, both of whom died from gunshot wounds. Another young man was seriously injured and remains in critical condition in hospital.

According to reports, an ambulance driver passing by the scene was alerted by residents and became the first responder before emergency services arrived. The shooting occurred near a grocery store in the Ein HaYam neighborhood of Haifa, an area that has previously witnessed violent incidents.

Medical staff said three men were found unconscious with severe gunshot injuries. One was declared dead after examinations, while the other two were transferred to hospital in critical condition.

Statistics indicate a continuing rise in violence within Israel’s Arab community. As of early July last year, 128 deaths had already been recorded from violence and crime. In 2024, a total of 230 Arab citizens were killed in similar incidents, making 2026 on track to become one of the deadliest years in recent memory.

The latest wave of killings comes just days after Israeli police commissioner Danny Levy held an emergency meeting with senior commanders following five murders in less than half a day across several cities including Tayibe, Kafr Qasim, Jaffa, and Holon.
