Atwan: Netanyahu Watches Iran Funeral in Despair

DID Press: Arab political analyst Abdel Bari Atwan has described the funeral ceremony of the Martyr Leader of the Islamic Revolution as a symbol of the Iranian people’s resolve, saying Benjamin Netanyahu watched the event “from a position of defeat and despair.”

In his latest commentary, Atwan wrote that the large-scale funeral for the Martyr Leader of the Islamic Revolution reflected the resilience of the Iranian people and undermined the expectations of Iran’s adversaries.

He argued that Netanyahu observed the ceremony with frustration as it drew massive public participation and attendance by foreign delegations.

According to Atwan, what Israel viewed as a strategic achievement failed to produce its intended outcome and instead strengthened national unity and reinforced the spirit of resistance in Iran.

The veteran Arab commentator also pointed to extensive regional and international media coverage of the funeral, saying the public turnout conveyed a clear message that pressure, threats, and targeted killings could not weaken the determination of the Iranian people.

Atwan further stated that Iran continues to retain its strategic capabilities despite recent conflict and external pressure, adding that the funeral ceremony represented both national strength and the failure of efforts aimed at undermining the Islamic Republic.
