DID Press: Germany has announced a major new contribution to Ukraine’s military support package, pledging around €12 billion to a proposed €40 billion NATO-backed fund aimed at strengthening Kyiv’s defense capabilities amid the ongoing war with Russia.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said the war in Ukraine has reached a decisive phase, stressing the need for sustained military assistance from Western allies.
Speaking to reporters, Pistorius urged NATO partners to increase financial support for weapons production and Ukraine’s defensive capacity, arguing that current conditions should be used to reinforce Kyiv’s position against Russian attacks.
He added that the upcoming NATO meeting is expected to finalize the creation of a €40 billion support fund, with Germany contributing approximately €12 billion—making it the largest single contributor among alliance members.
The minister emphasized that continued military and financial assistance is essential to maintain Ukraine’s defensive strength and withstand ongoing Russian offensives.
