TTP Claims Deadly Police Attack in Pakistan’s Balochistan

DID Press: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for an armed attack on a joint police and security forces facility in Ziarat district of Balochistan province, Pakistan.

The group claimed that more than 20 security personnel were killed or wounded in the attack. However, Balochistan police officials had earlier reported that at least nine police officers, including two commanders, were killed during the clashes.

Reports indicate that after the attack on Monday night, seven police personnel went missing, while local sources suggested the number of missing officers could be higher than official figures.

TTP also claimed that it seized weapons and military equipment, destroyed several security vehicles and took away some other vehicles during the operation.

Provincial authorities in Balochistan have not yet commented on the group’s claims. Following the incident, local residents blocked roads leading to Ziarat and demanded clarification over the fate of the missing personnel.

Security officials in Balochistan said a clearance operation against the attackers has been completed.
